Chicago Fire FC is making a last-ditch effort to sign Robert Lewandowski. The 37-year-old Polish striker is a free agent after four seasons with FC Barcelona.
What's happening with the transfer?
Billboards have been erected throughout Chicago to welcome Lewandowski to the city as he tours ahead of a potential signing.
The Fire also sent an email to season ticket holders mentioning a “possible special appearance you won’t want to miss.”
Why it matters for Chicago Fire FC
Lewandowski would be one of the biggest signings in Chicago Fire history, alongside Cuauhtémoc Blanco and Bastian Schweinsteiger.
His fit alongside current Chicago Fire number nine and MLS Golden Boot leader Hugo Cuypers isn’t in doubt.
